GPS Live beta released
Thanks for xGPS team provide the hint on how to integrate the control panel to the Maps.app , so that we can bindle our gps update application to the Maps.app interface.
We are now releasing the first iphone GPS program that support both real GPS and the fake GPS (using cell triangulation)
The installer source is : http://repos.igpsd.com
How to install :
Add a new source in installer

After installed the source , refresh the source will see a new Group call GPS,
and the application for this is called GPS Live
known issue: The icon for Start GPS Tracking doesn’t change to Stop GPS tracking after the GPS update started. This bug will be fix in the next release.
UPDATE: this application bundled with the gps console program in /usr/local/bin/igpsd/serial , for developer who want to make use of the real GPS , can free feel to use it in your program. If you do use it , please let us know, so that we can also list it in our installer repository for user to download.
Our update on the xgps source code will be release soon as a demo of how to use the gps console program. Please take a look later.

Dear mohammad,
if you cannot install by using installer.app, you can try download the package at http://repos.igpsd.com/download/iGPSDLive_0.2.zip and unzip the whole file to the root of the iphone
Locks up my keyboard cant do anything with this version
Maybe the next one
I am on JB WinPWN 1.14
Thanks
had to go in via SSH and delete the Usr/Bin/Library stuff totally then got my keyboard and screen back and went into installer to delete the program
Thanks
Hi, is the software designed for using the iphone as a full navi system ? Thats because I tried to calculate a route and it didn´t work. I guess the problem was the bug which is responsable for not stopping gps tracking. When will you release the new version ? Can I use a different gps receiver with a mini usb port ? Thank you.

[...] die man wunderbar für’s Geocaching benutzen kann: Hike.app. Ich hab auch mit GPSd und iGPSD experimentiert … beide Programme funktionieren, haben mich aber irgendwie nicht überzeugt. [...]

Hi again,
Sorry for being very unclear. What I want to do is connect to an gpsd service not running on the iphone/ipod but on another server. like one of these test services.

http://gpsd.rellim.com/
My car is always online over 3G and has a gpsd running and it would be really cool to connect to it and see where the car is

Dear nicklas,
You means your car have a gpsd server running , and you want your iphone connect to it as a client, and show the update of it in your iphone ?
Chris
Great job, ordered the cable already and it works great with my M1000 but will you support also the “old” iPhone with new Firmware 2.0 ? Keep on the great work, Gerrit
Dear Gerrit,
as Hong Kong will have 3G iphone , so I will test the iphone 2.0 support when it is official release. Thanks for your purchase.
Hi Chris,
That is correct! so if I would lend my car to a friend or similar I would be able to track it on my iphone
And when I’m in the car I can use the iphone for simplified navigation.

Hello and Great Work
At this moment I am working for some kind of iPod application which try to communicate with a topographic station for send and receive data.
But I have great difficulties in creating and opening an serial communication port from the application which is runing on iPhone.
So, please if you can help me with some information regarding serial communication from iPod.
Would be great if I cloud receive an email address of one of the developers for much discussion regarding iPod development.
Thank you and lucky development,
Sir.Costy@gmail.com
Hello everyone,
i’m visiting your site every day (great work ppl!) for the last month
since i’m very interested on a GPS feature for my 1st gen iphone (v1.1.4).
What i wanted to ask though, in order to understand
how the software “speaks” through serial to the gps device is if gpsd must be installed in order for hike.app and gps live to work?
I mean, for maps to get refreshing (like the 3G), if i install only gps live, will it work with the GPS module or gpsd must be also installed so as to work?
A few days ago i installed hike, gpsd and gps live,
but after restart (started when tried maps-no gps module just for testing purposes)
i got a locked touchpad, i could only start/close applications and nothing else, like someone mentioned before.
To solve it, i also went to SSH+winspc but i did
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons and erased the gpsd file from there. Restart->touchpad ok->uninstalled from installer. Hope this helps if someone had the same problem.
Thank you in advance and keep up the good work!!
Dear Talos,
Thanks for your question. GPSD is a standalone GPS logger program that design for a special range of user , and should not use with the GPS Live as both will try to communicate to the serial port. With your question, we may later add a clear description about this in the installer app so that user like you will not get confused.
iPhone 2.0 support will be ready soon. And we will have more information once thing go ready. We love our customer and hope you enjoy the cable.
For any further query, you can also let us know by email us. our email is sales@igpsd.com, we will reply all email as soon as possible.
So what about that iPhone 2.0 support? Make it 2.2.1 now…
